Lazar Šćepanović, acting assistant director of the Sector for Combating Crime in the Montenegrin police, stated tonight that the suspect for the double murder near Bijelo Polje, Alija Balijagić, has been in Serbia since October 28th.
„With certainty, I can say that the suspect for that murder, Alija Balijagić, has not been in Montenegro since October 28th, but in Serbia. Serbian authorities are constantly in contact with our authorities and we exchange all operational data,“ said Šćepanović, as reported by RTCG portal.
He also mentioned that it is understandable that citizens are concerned.
Balijagić is suspected of killing two people in a house in the village of Sokolac near Bijelo Polje in northern Montenegro on October 25th.
An Interpol warrant has been issued for him, and he was located near Prijepolje in early November.
The Serbian police are intensively searching for him.
