Petar Kostić, twenty years old, was attacked two nights ago in Kosovska Mitrovica, and the Office for Kosovo and Metohija issued a statement today stating that Serbs are faced with impossible living conditions in the Kosovo area.

„This is evidenced by the fact that there have been 500 ethnically motivated incidents since Albin Kurti came to power, all of which are a direct result of the anti-Serbian policy pursued by his regime in Pristina.

Namely, two nights ago, a group of Albanian extremists attacked twenty-year-old Petar Kostić in a parking lot in Kosovska Mitrovica, robbed and brutally beat him, thus completing an alarming series of ethnic incidents towards Serbs,“ the statement said.

It is further added that „all of Kurti’s political decisions were made only to make life difficult for Serbs in Kosovo.“

„Inflammatory rhetoric incites violence and incidents in the field, from attacks on Serbs, Serbian Orthodox Church objects, Serbian property… By, on one hand, perpetrating institutional violence towards Serbs, and on the other hand fueling national intolerance that leads to such and similar physical attacks, of which there have been a large number in the past three years, the regime in Pristina wants to carry out a new ethnic cleansing of Serbs from their ancestral homes,“ the Office for Kosovo and Metohija adds.

Despite all challenges, Belgrade will continue to pursue a policy of peace, but persistently and consistently seek to investigate each individual incident and ensure that the perpetrators are prosecuted and adequately punished.

„Only in this way can Serbs be provided with the basic conditions for a peaceful and free life in the Kosovo area,“ concludes the statement.
